Are you ready for an exciting adventure? Today, we are going on a safari to find special friends who are all around us. They are not animals, but they help us count everything, from the mangoes on a tree to the shillings in our pocket. Who are these friends? They are Numbers! Let's become number detectives together!

Let's Meet Our First Friends: Numbers 1 to 5

We will learn to recognise each number, say its name, and see what it looks like in the world. Tuko tayari? Let's go!

1. Number One (Moja)

This is the number 1. It stands tall and proud, just like you! We have one nose on our face and there is one bright sun in the Kenyan sky.

2. Number Two (Mbili)

• 9 (Tisa): It looks like number 6 has turned upside down!
• 10 (Kumi): Ten fingers on both your hands and ten toes on your feet! You can also buy a sweet mandazi with a ten-shilling coin!

Real-Life Number Hunt!

Akello is going to the duka (shop) for her mum. Mum says, "Please buy two loaves of bread, one packet of milk, and five sweets." Akello must recognise the numbers to know how many of each item to get. Numbers help us every single day!
