ERP Product Manager
Job Description
We are seeking a highly driven and detail-oriented Product Manager to own and lead the end-to-end product lifecycle of our retail and enterprise-grade POS/ERP platform serving MSMEs and corporate clients.
The Product Manager will act as the bridge between business, customers, and the technical team, translating real-world retail, procurement, and financial workflows into scalable, compliant, and market-ready software products.
This role is critical in transforming our product from a POS system into a fully integrated ERP ecosystem with strong usability, compliance (eTIMS, M-Pesa, payments), scalability, and commercial viability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Strategy & Vision
• Articulate and champion a compelling product vision and strategic roadmap for the contract period..
• Ensure all product initiatives are directly aligned with immediate business objectives and customer demands.
• Identify gaps and opportunities in the current system and propose new modules and enhancementsto expand product capabilities.
Propose validated enhancements and new modules that deliver tangible value.
2. Product Planning & Roadmap Management
Develop and maintain a clear, phased product roadmap focused on key deliverables for the contract term.Decompose strategic themes into well-defined epics, features, and actionable user stories.
Employ a structured framework to prioritize the backlog, balancing immediate customer value, development effort, and compliance requirements.
Proactively manage dependencies between core product modules to ensure timely delivery.
3. Requirements Gathering & Documentation
• Proactively engage with internal stakeholders and end-users to understand critical workflows and pain points. Synthesize complex inputs into precise, actionable Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) and user stories.
• Craft clear documentation that serves as a single source of truth for both technical and business teams.
4. Agile Delivery & Team Collaboration
• Serve as the key product owner within Agile/Scrum teams, fostering collaboration with Engineering, UX/UI, and QA.
• Actively participate in Agile sprints to ensure team alignment and focus on priority deliverables.
• Guarantee the delivery of high-quality features by rigorously validating outputs against acceptance criteria.
5. User Experience (UX) & Usability
• Champion intuitive and efficient user experiences for retail and enterprise users.
• Work with designers to refine key user interfaces and workflows.
• Ensure product simplicity despite increasing feature depth.
· Leverage usability feedback to guide rapid product iteration and improvement.
6. Compliance, Integrations & Technical Alignment
• Oversee compliance-related features including:
• eTIMS integration
• Tax configurations (VAT, withholding, excise where applicable)
• Coordinate integrations such as:
• M-Pesa & other payment gateways
• SMS, Email, WhatsApp
• Accounting systems and third-party APIs
• Ensure product designs are technically feasible and scalable.
7. Go-to-Market & Stakeholder Enablement
· Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on product positioning and feature packaging for new releases.
• Support pre-sales activities and facilitate onboarding for strategic clients as needed.
• Oversee the creation of release notes, feature documentation, user guides, and internal training materials.
• Train internal teams on new features and system capabilities.
8. Performance Tracking & Continuous Improvement
• Define and monitor product KPIs (adoption, usage, churn drivers, feature performance).
• Collect and analyze customer feedback and support tickets.
• Continuously refine the product backlog based on data and insights.
Key Product Areas You Will Own
You will have ownership over the strategy and execution for key areas during the contract, including:
• Core POS (Sales, Inventory, Pricing, Discounts)
• Multi-outlet and centralized billing
• Procurement & Supplier management
• Stock management & reporting
• Offline mode & sync logic
• Payments (M-Pesa, cards, banks, others)
• Compliance (eTIMS, tax reporting)
• Bulk SMS / Email / WhatsApp marketing
• Financial, Accounting & profitability reports
• Modular ERP expansion strategy
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business IT, or related field.
• 5–10 years of hands-on experience in Software Development.
• 3–6 years of hands-on experience in Product Management, Business Analysis within a technology environment.
• Proven experience working on POS, ERP, FinTech, SaaS, or enterprise systems.
• Solid understanding of retail operations, inventory/procurement workflows, and financial processes.
· Strong Advantage: Working knowledge of Kenyan payment systems (M-Pesa) and tax compliance (eTIMS).
