VP of Talent Operations (Remote) - $200,000/year USD
Job Description
This role is built for someone who can.
While this position lives within People and Talent Operations, it functions primarily as a systems design and operations role where hiring is the core domain. You are not required to be a hiring subject-matter expert. You are required to be an expert in constructing systems that produce measurable outcomes — systems that scale, repeat reliably, and hold up when tested by operational reality.
The challenge is straightforward in concept but demanding in practice: architect and run a system that reliably attracts, evaluates, and onboards the right talent, at the appropriate quality threshold, on schedule, and into positions where they perform well and remain. The system must function not only for straightforward, clearly scoped requests, but also for ambiguous, high-stakes, and atypical scenarios. This role demands continuous ownership, sound judgment, and the discipline to resolve problems in ways that reinforce the system instead of layering on complexity.
Stakeholder management is essential. You will collaborate with senior leaders who bring strong perspectives, conflicting priorities, and incomplete information. You will lack formal authority. Your success depends on earning trust, identifying alignment, and making trade-offs explicit — maintaining standards while ensuring stakeholders feel respected and supported.
This is an AI-native environment. You will engage with AI tools daily, leveraging them to draft content, validate concepts, evaluate results, probe edge cases, and uncover trends. You will not delegate ideas to engineering and wait for output. You will prototype, test, troubleshoot, document, and refine independently, then collaborate with technical partners when scaling or hardening becomes necessary.
We also believe in transparency, because your time matters. This role is not suited to everyone.
If any of these descriptions resonate, this is probably not the right match:
• You prefer identifying issues over delivering complete solutions
• You rely on org charts, authority, or designated owners to drive work forward
• You delegate technical tasks to engineers rather than building prototypes yourself
• You interpret feedback or challenge as criticism instead of valuable input
• You optimize components in isolation without considering broader system impact
• You enjoy the concept of repairing broken systems more than the execution
This is a global, remote position offering significant autonomy and equally significant accountability. You are required to be available for a minimum of four hours during U.S. business hours on weekdays. Beyond that window, your schedule is self-managed.
One final note, in the interest of candor: our application process demands substantive effort. Most applicants invest considerable time because the nature of the role warrants it.
If this entire description made you more interested — not less — we genuinely want to hear from you.
What You Will Be Doing
• Designing and refining comprehensive systems that convert unclear needs into consistent, high-caliber results
• Collaborating directly with senior stakeholders to define genuine constraints, articulate trade-offs, and establish shared definitions of success
• Applying AI tools every day to create, validate, assess, and iterate on system elements, then exercising judgment and quality oversight
• Taking full ownership of your initiatives from conception through delivery, measurement, and continuous improvement — no handoffs, no divided accountability
• Recognizing trends, determining root causes, and evolving the system informed by performance data and operational feedback
What You Won’t Be Doing
• Identifying problems and delegating execution to others
• Refining isolated components without accounting for broader system consequences
• Waiting for authority, organizational structure, or escalation paths to enable progress
• Relying exclusively on specialists instead of engaging directly
• Sidestepping complex problems, challenging stakeholders, or personal accountability
