About the STEAM Program
Our Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) program equips
teachers and learners with the knowledge, skills, and tools to integrate STEAM into everyday
learning. Programs include life skills, coding, robotics, innovation challenges, and career
exposure workshops connecting learners with industry professionals. Educators receive
professional development in STEAM integration, ICT utilization, gender-sensitive pedagogy, and
learner-centered approaches.
Role Overview
The ICT Co-ordinator will support the implementation of Chalan Foundation’s STEAM
Program by building the capacity of teachers in partner county schools. The role involves
delivering hands-on ICT and STEAM training, supporting classroom integration of digital tools,
and ensuring teachers can deliver inclusive, learner-centered education.
Eligibility Criteria
Academic Qualifications: Diploma or Bachelor’s in ICT/Computer Science, Education (ICT,
Mathematics, Science, or Technology), Engineering, STEAM-related field, or equivalent.
Professional Experience: Minimum 2 years in ICT training, digital literacy, STEAM education,
teacher training, or education program implementation. Experience with public schools,
community programs, or PBOs is an advantage.
Technical Competencies: Basic computing and digital tools; coding fundamentals, robotics, or
STEAM tools (advantage); LMS or digital content platform experience (advantage); ability to set
up and troubleshoot ICT equipment.
Training & Facilitation Skills: Strong adult-learning facilitation; ability to simplify technical
concepts; experience with participatory, learner-centered methods.
Personal Attributes: Passion for education, STEAM, and youth empowerment; strong
communication; willingness to travel; self-driven and organized; culturally sensitive.
Added Advantage: TSC registration; experience with gender-responsive or inclusive education;
familiarity with Kenya’s CBC curriculum and ICT integration.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct in-school and cluster-based ICT and STEAM training for teachers.
• Train teachers as master trainers to cascade STEAM learning.
• Support ICT, coding, robotics, and problem-solving integration in lessons.
• Roll out STEAM activities in partner schools.
• Assist schools with ICT/STEAM equipment setup and use.
• Provide mentorship and follow-up coaching.
• Collect data, success stories, and lessons learned.
• Prepare activity reports and contribute to monitoring and assessments.
• Uphold child protection and safeguarding policies.
• Engage positively with school leadership, teachers, learners, and stakeholders.
