The ranking uses quantitative analysis of the Internet and Web contents and aims to promote Open Access initiatives, electronic access to scientific publications and to other academic material. Data for the ranking is collected between 1st and 20th of January and July of each year and the ranking is published twice a year, that is, in January and July. Institutions and scholars should have a web presence that accurately describes their activities. Best strategy to improve ranking is to increase the quantity and quality of web contents to promote open access and transparency, substantially increase the volume and quality of their electronic publications. Volatility of search engines is very high; therefore, figures can be different and not easily replicated if the search is performed days later.
