Virtual conference on inclusive TVET Virtual conference report UNESCO-UNEVOC TVeT Forum, 1 to 12 July 2019 Moderated by Joyceline Alla-Mensah This virtual conference was held as a contribution to the 2020 Global Education Monitoring Report of UNESCO under preparation Virtual conference report AT A GLANCE. The Salamanca Statement which was adopted at the World Conference on Special Needs Education in 1994 marked a watershed in the development of inclusive education. In addition, Sustainable Development Goal 4 on Education calls on Member States to ‘ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all’. On the one hand, the international community, national governments, civil society organizations and regional bodies have been mobilizing efforts to ensure that the needs of all persons are met in education and training. Inclusive education, on the other hand, varies in policies and practices across and within countries due to different interpretations of it and feasibility of carrying it out.
