BRITISH ACADEMY INTERNATIONAL WRITING SKILLS MENTORING SCHEME We are pleased to invite early career social scientists (ECRs) from the Technical University of Kenya (TU-K), the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), and Pwani University to join the International Workshop and Mentoring Scheme. This two-year initiative, in collaboration with the University of Glasgow, aims to strengthen academic writing and grant proposal skills through quarterly online mentoring and a five-day in-person workshop in Nairobi (25–30 August 2025). This is a unique opportunity to build international networks, enhance research capacity, and advance your academic career. Early Career Researcher (ECR) Status • Currently employed or undertaking a PhD at TU-K, KEMRI, or Pwani University. • Within 10 years of completing their highest academic qualification (PhD or equivalent). Writing Development Goals • Clear motivation to improve academic writing and grant proposal skills. • Willingness to engage in regular mentoring and peer learning activities. • Willingness and ability to cascade knowledge to students and colleagues.
