Between the year 2022 and 2024, the hospital experienced drug shortages for chronic and terminal diseases. Complaints increased due to poor medical care because of lack of drugs and essential surgical materials. Procurement records reveal that drugs and other medical materials have been procured and paid for. External audit reports have constantly reviewed big variances between the physical and system balances which the hospital tried to conceal through numerous journal adjustments that could not be explained. In the year 2022/2023, there was medicine inventory variance of approximately one billion Kenya shillings and also in the year 2023/2024, there was approximately a medicine inventory variance of one billion seven hundred thousand shillings.
