Therapy Insurance Specialist - Twin Cities Orthopedics
Job Description
The Insurance Verification Specialist will provide excellent customer service
and documentation while communicating with patients, insurance representatives,
clinic personnel, and outside vendors. This position will primarily be
responsible for insurance verification and review of patient benefits,
sending/receiving and documenting patient charts. This position has the ability
to work remotely after 6 months based on performance.
This is a full-time position working Monday-Friday between the hours of
7:00am-5:00pm.
Training for this position is in person for 3-6 months at our TCO Stillwater,
Edina, Forest Lake offices. After that time period with meeting performance
metrics, employee is released to work from home.
Twin Cities Orthopedics is an operating division of Infinite Health
Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by
its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their
healthcare.
Responsibilities
• Verify and document insurance information as defined by current business practices.
• Research denials and report findings back to billing denial team
• Accurately and efficiently schedule new and existing patients in the current practice management system
• Answer inbound calls in a timely, pleasant and professional manner
• Communicate all pertinent patient information regarding their call to include; appointment information, directions, check-in times, referral information and copayments
• Ensure professional communication with patients, insurance representatives, clinic personnel, and outside vendors over the phone, via email or other written documentation and responding to all inquiries
• Maintain a working knowledge of health care plan requirements and health plan networks
• Make outbound phone calls to patients and/or insurance companies for benefit inquiries, authorization details and document according to current policy
• Travel as needed for team meetings
• Comply with all TCO and therapy policies and procedures
• Ensure all work is handled in an organized and timely manner as designated by the lead, supervisor or manager
• Complete daily tasks and follow up each day as designated
• Demonstrate the ability to work as an effective team member by contributing to the development of cohesive relationships

• Any and all other duties as assigned
Requirements
• High School diploma/GED or equivalent
• Customer service experience required
• Previous experience in a healthcare facility in relation to pre-registration, insurance verification, or appointment scheduling preferred
• Ability to: Comply with company policies, procedures, practices, and business ethics guidelines.
• Ability to: Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, (e.g. HIPAA, Stark, OSHA, employment laws, etc.)
• Ability to: Demonstrate prompt and reliable attendance.
• Ability to: Work at an efficient and productive pace, handle interruptions appropriately, and meet deadlines. Prioritize workload effectively.
• Ability to: Communicate respectfully and professionally in face-to-face, phone and email interactions. Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
