Job Description
Savannah Global Health Institute (SGHI) is a pan-African health systems institute working with governments and partners to build resilient, equitable, and people-centered health systems. SGHI integrates service delivery, digital public infrastructure, health financing, and innovation to translate evidence into action at scale—strengthening primary health care and improving outcomes for underserved populations. Our work is grounded in local stewardship, data-driven decision-making, and practical execution across complex health system environments.
About The Fellowship
The Early Career Fellowship in Health Systems Strengthening is a structured entry point for high-potential early-career professionals—particularly recent medical and health-science graduates—who want to move into real-world health systems delivery and policy execution. Fellows are embedded within SGHI’s program teams and contribute directly to government-aligned initiatives across service delivery, digital and data systems, health products and technologies, supply chains, and stakeholder coordination. The Fellowship emphasizes learning-by-doing, mentorship, and exposure to how health systems reforms are designed, coordinated, and delivered in practice.
Purpose of the Role
The Fellow provides hands-on analytical, coordination, and implementation support to SGHI’s program delivery teams. The role ensures smooth coordination of activities, high-quality development of program materials, and effective engagement with government, donor, and technical stakeholders. The Fellow will work across multiple initiatives, building foundational competencies in program delivery, stakeholder management, applied analytics, and evidence-to-action execution, while developing a system-level understanding of Kenya’s health sector.
Key Responsibilities

Learning, Knowledge & Professional Development
• Participate in internal learning sessions, technical discussions, and cross-team forums.
• Document lessons learned and emerging best practices from implementation.
• Build practical understanding of health systems strengthening across service delivery, digital systems, health products and technologies, supply chains, and governance.
• Seek feedback and mentorship to continuously strengthen analytical, coordination, and communication skills.
